What do you enjoy about being a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windsor Essex?
I enjoy being a mentor to my two mentees because the thought of being there for someone brings me joy. I find it rewarding to support them as they grow, learn and become more confident in themselves. I truly value the meaningful connections I built with my mentees and I hope to keep making a positive inpact in their lives.
What is one memory with your Mentee/Little that still makes you smile?
One memory with my one mentee that still makes me smile is when we made cupcakes and decorated them we had so much fun laughing together.
Another memory with my one mentee that still makes me smile is when we made slime for the first time. She wanted to make a big slime and we combined my slime and hers and it turned out amazing. We laughed a lot and played with the giant slime together.
What are some of your favourite activities to do with your Mentee/Little?
My favorite activities to do with my mentees are making slime, coloring and playing board games. I also enjoy talking with my mentees and getting to know them better and hearing what they have to say
What advice would you give to someone thinking about becoming a mentor with BBBSWE?
I would say if they are thinking about mentoring with Big Brothers Big Sisters Windsor Essex, it’s important to be consistent, patient, and genuinely open to building a relationship. Mentoring isn’t about fixing problems, but about listening, supporting, and being a positive, reliable presence in a young person’s life..
