What inspired you to become a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windsor Essex?
I recognize how important it was for me to grow up with someone to look up to and wanted to be able to be that person for someone else. I knew that BBBS was a great way to make meaningful connections.
What are some of your favourite activities to do with your Mentee/Little?
My mentee and I do a lot of different activities but we mostly do art and board games. My mentee is very creative and loves showing people her work.
What is one memory with your Mentee/Little that still makes you smile?
My memory is actually from today, this is my third year with my mentee and I went to see her for our first meeting of the year and she was so happy and surprised to see me. It really meant a lot to me to see that.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about becoming a mentor with BBBSWE?
I would say to just do it, it’s a fun way to get involved in a meaningful way. You don’t even realize how much of a difference you can make in someone’s life just by being there.
