LILY- COMMUNITY BASED MENTOR
What inspired you to become a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windsor Essex?
I have been matched with Mackenzie for 7 years, and throughout the years our friendship has grown and strengthened. This match has not only influenced Mackenzie’s life in a positive way, but mine as well! Our match has always been full of encouragement, support, compassion and consistency.
What is one memory with your Mentee/Little that still makes you smile?
No matter what we’re doing we always have a fun time together. Whether it’s attending sports games, shopping and going to the movies or arcade, or just listening to music. Life has thrown us curve balls along the way, and being a match during Covid posed many challenges but the strength of our friendship helped us surpass all the hardships, and we made it through even stronger. We have been through a lot together as life is constantly changing, and it truly reflects our solid foundation and commitment as a match.

What are some of your favourite activities to do with your Mentee/Little?
Being a mentor to Mackenzie is an important and invaluable role that I have and cherish. This role motivates me to continue to support and guide Mackenzie, and always offer a listening ear and encouragement. I’m very thankful to have been by Mackenzies side through all her accomplishments and continue to cheer her on and encourage her to be the best version of herself, always keeping in mind her core values and life goals!
